Trump's 10% Global Tariffs Stay in Force After Appeals Court Extends Pause on Trade Court Decision
A US appeals court has kept a 10% global tariff in place for three importers, allowing the U.S. to continue collecting tariffs from the companies while the government's appeal plays out.
The decision follows a lower court ruling that had granted the importers a reprieve from the duties last week. The Trump administration appealed, and the appeals court on May 12 temporarily allowed tariffs to resume for the three importers who won in lower court.
The 10% global tariff was imposed in February after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down most of the tariffs that Trump imposed in 2025.
The latest global tariffs were imposed under Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974, and are scheduled to expire in July unless extended by Congress.
