Survival Horror Just Got Real: The Last of Us S3 Drops Big Names

The Last of Us Season 3 Scoop: Peter Sarsgaard Joins Cast as Original Character Amon, and More!

It's time to gear up for more post-apocalyptic drama, folks! The Emmy-winning HBO series The Last of Us is revving its engines for season 3, and we've got the scoop on what's in store. In a major casting coup, Peter Sarsgaard, fresh from his roles in The Batman and The Bride!, will be bringing an original character to life as Amon, one of the leaders of the religious cult, the Seraphites.

But that's not all - production is taking a brief hiatus due to the World Cup's arrival in Vancouver, where the show is filmed. No worries, though; the crew is using this downtime to recharge before diving back into the action. When we last left our survivors, Ellie (Bella Ramsey) and Dina (Isabela Merced) were on the hunt for Abby (Kaitlyn Dever), who had a score to settle with Joel (Pedro Pascal). As we jump back in time, expect more drama and adventure as Abby's perspective takes center stage.

Now, about those Seraphites - remember them from season 2? They're at war with the Washington Liberation Front (W.L.F.), aka "Wolves," led by Isaac (Jeffrey Wright). And speaking of the W.L.F., we'll be meeting more of its members, including Yara (Michelle Mao) and Lev (Kyriana Kratter), siblings who are part of the cult. Clea Duvall will also be joining the cast as a mysterious Seraphite member - but whose identity remains under wraps for now.

New additions to the cast include Patrick Wilson, Jason Ritter, and Jorge Lendeborg Jr. Wilson will be playing Abby's dad, Jerry Anderson, a Firefly surgeon who met his untimely demise at the hands of Joel in season 1. Ritter, who previously popped up as a Clicker in season 1, will now be taking on a more prominent role as W.L.F. soldier Hanley.

Lendeborg Jr., meanwhile, will be stepping into the shoes of Manny, a member of Abby's crew that was previously played by Danny Ramirez (who had to bow out due to scheduling conflicts).

No premiere date has been set just yet, but rest assured that The Last of Us season 3 will make its debut sometime in 2027. Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann are back at the helm, with Mazin serving as showrunner and lead writer, while Druckmann remains attached as an executive producer.

Get ready for more heart-pumping action, emotional drama, and world-building as The Last of Us season 3 takes shape!
