It's-a him again! Graham Platner, the Maine Democratic Senate candidate who's got everyone talking... for all the wrong reasons, heh heh. This guy's been at the center of a string of controversies that would make even the most hardened cynic raise an eyebrow.
So, let's start with the tattoo, shall we? Yeah, because nothing says "I'm a stand-up guy" like a skull and crossbones on your chest, right? Apparently, it was a Totenkopf symbol, which is all kinds of problematic. Platner claims he had no idea what it represented and only learned about it from "reporters and DC insiders." Oh, sure thing, Graham! We totally believe you, heh heh.
But hey, at least he took steps to cover it up, right? I mean, who doesn't love a good tattoo removal, am I right? It's like a rite of passage or something. Anyway, the controversy didn't exactly die down after that.
Fast-forward to June 9, and Rep Brandon Gill decides to bring in a Southern Poverty Law Centre witness to testify about Platner's alleged Nazi symbol. And let me tell you, this guy was not having it. He wrote on an X (because, why not?) saying, "I asked the President of the SPLC if Graham Platner's tattoo of a Nazi symbol should disqualify him from serving in the Senate." Yeah, that's some high-level stuff right there.
But wait, there's more! Old Reddit posts surfaced, and oh boy, they're juicy. He asked why black people don't tip (what even is this?), described rural White Americans as "actually racist and stupid" (nice one, Graham), called himself a "communist," and referred to police officers as "b------s." Platner claims these posts were just meant to get a rise out of people and didn't reflect his true beliefs. Sure thing, buddy! We believe you... not.
And then, there's the whole sexual messaging scandal. Apparently, he exchanged explicit messages with several women outside his marriage (classy, Graham). One woman described his behavior as "unsettling," while another called him "toxic." Platner denies any allegations involving physicality, because that would be just too terrible.
Despite all these controversies, Platner is still expected to win the Democratic primary. I mean, who wouldn't want a guy with a questionable tattoo and some questionable online behavior representing them in the Senate? It's like he's got a special brand of crazy going on.
But hey, at least he's consistent, right? I mean, this guy's got more controversies than a Kardashian has Instagram posts. So, if you're looking for someone who can bring a little excitement to the Senate floor, Graham Platner might be your man... or not.
